MARUDI HERE WE ARE!
Najib to Marudi
We heard that tomorrow PM Najib will come to Marudi for the official opening ceremony of 1Malaysia Clinic, here. Today, we finally arrived in Marudi, a small town all excited with the elections. As expected, there were a lot of banners & posters in town & around the kampung areas.
Strong fight
Before the only banners seen would be BN, but now, it seems like there is a fight for BN. PKR's banners & flags can be seen all over the town area. According to a reliable source, during PKR's ceramah in the past 2 days, a lot of people have attended the ceramah & even donated freely for the campaign. It seems a lot of people are starting to realize & want changes for this small “cowboy town”.
“Traced votes”
On the way from Miri to Marudi, in the express boat, we had the chance to speak to 2 passengers who were sitting behind us. They are government servants, and they express their worries about traced votes. But they were aware of the issues in Baram area that really create worries for the locals especially the Baram Dam. They know how deep their village will be submerged under water if the Baram Dam is continued.
People, especially government servants are worried of “traced votes”. They are afraid to vote for opposition parties because based on their understanding there is a serial number on every voting paper. But since 2008, the rule has changed. There must not be any serial number on the voting paper. If there is anything written on the paper, one has the right to ask the officer in charge and 'bantah' if possible.
